What it actually does

Useful before impressive.

An upscaler cannot recover information the camera never captured. It can make a better, larger interpretation by cleaning compression, strengthening edges, and reconstructing plausible texture. Bearly keeps that distinction visible.

The result can be refined for a specific use: restrained archival treatment, crisper product edges, legible presentation graphics, or a print version that keeps the original grain.
